"And another thing ..."
"The reason half the world feels lonely is because the other half is pretending to be perfect."
I'm Julia ...
My father sent me Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and I can’t stop listening to it. Beautiful.
In spite of a fair amount of stress, and despite the fact that I haven’t slept in two days, I am happy, and grateful, this morning. Happiness is dynamic, you know. It’s actually convenient to be down, because then you can appreciate the ride up ;)
my adorable high school friend Elly, who is about to graduate from Yale Law.
What IS nonsociety, mmm? ;)
- Dad: Are you on facebook?
- Me: Of course. Everyone is.
- Dad: I'm not!
- Me: You should join.
- Dad: Would that get me on wikipedia?
- Me: No.
- Dad: Then I don't think I need to do that.
In honor of David Karp’s 22nd birthday, let’s play BIRTHDAY FILL IN THE BLANK!
When I turned 22, I was … [BLANK].
I know now that … [BLANK].
Looking back, I think, what the [BLANK]?!
[BLANK] Birthday, David!
With my grandmother yesterday!
Today’s 4th of July outfit, complete with matching dog.
Which one is the Lilly?
With my childhood neighbor Nick Noyes at yesterday’s 4th/3rd of July party! Our parents live a dozen houses from each other in Wilmette, and have since we were little kids. Awww.
PS. It was freaking FREEZING last night. I came totally sartorially unprepared for such weather.
I always pose with the right side of my face to the camera. It’s a bad habit, like eating obscene quantities of sugar. I can break it, but it takes serious effort, and ultimately I always go back to what feels most comfortable.
But this photo proves I have a left cheek after all!
You’ll never see it again.
With the affable and brilliant photographer Michael Scott Slosar. There are two other photographs in this series, one with Meghan & Mary and the other a closeup of me, which will be printed in this September’s Z!NK magazine.
ZINK magazine together with The Fame Game put on an incredible experimental photographic exhibition / competition, which culminated in a party, last Tuesday.
This was one of the images, representing the concept “PLAY.” Taken by the extremely talented photographer Michael Scott Slosar and creative directed by one of the wittiest men I know, Greg Littley, it was shot in Brooklyn two weeks ago.
Yes, those are boxes of hype behind me, and if you were up close to the photo, you’d see reflections of paparazzi in the window pane. The blurb under the exhibit said the following: “The media. It’s all just a game. What if winning were about bringing attention to art?” What, me, a player? ;)
(My other favorites were DREAM and TEACH, both well-executed, in my opinion.)
